About Us

Recent years have seen an explosive development of open source software during which this software has migrated from the realm of university projects to the limelight of commercial enterprise. Open source software is currently embraced by many of the leading equipment vendors in the world for several reasons:
  1. Cost. The software is free from licensing and royalty costs. Even if you use a commercial (non-free) distribution, the price is almost always one-time and up-front, with no added costs for additional modules (NFS, communication stacks, graphics libraries and so on).

  2. Open. You have the source code; you are entitled to modify it for your own needs, you can freely read everyone's experience in using it, bug reports, etc. In short, the code is open and free. You have the freedom to work with whoever supports you best: no dependencies on a 3rd party provider – you can even change your Linux distributor with virtually no fuss.

  3. Breadth. Free software is probably one of the largest and fastest growing repositories of software in existence. There are currently tens of thousands of open projects under development and the list continues to grow. Free software now spans almost every imaginable area: communication protocols, management systems, graphic libraries, debug and development tools, etc. Whatever your needs, you can almost certainly find open source software packages that will fulfill them.

The major drawback to free software is that on its own, it is not a “product”. In other words, all software is available, but source files often need to be loaded from multiple sources, updates and patches need to be integrated periodically, there is no specific support, warranties or help line that companies offer for their products.

Standard Linux distribution outlets provide packaging and support for standard open source solutions – however, when used in embedded environments, the level of support for many hardware platforms and software applications remains weak.

Arabella Software adds an expert and professional dimension for embedded applications based on open-source software. Our specific goal is to help bridge the gap between open source software (as free software components) and software products for embedded uses in three important ways:
  • Highly optimized and complete integration of the Linux software with the underlying hardware

  • Innovative applications and add-ons over and beyond standard Linux

  • Professional services from a team of true experts

We offer services of integration and compilation of packages according to your needs, support services, customization and sub-contract project work according to your own specific requirements. We provide what we call “Customized Open-Source Solutions”.

The team has a great depth of experience in hardware/software integration, device drivers and communication protocols spanning Ethernet, IP, ATM, Frame Relay and more as well as many combined years of development in the open source environment. We are extremely well versed in a broad range of applications including advanced switching, QoS, tunneling and security, management, support systems and many more.

Through partnerships with leading semiconductor companies, we offer bundled, optimized solutions for advanced networking, security and System-On-Chip solutions, saving our customers significant development costs and time-to-market.
